Final Thoughts

Bessie Coleman was a brave woman.I really like the fact that she was the first African Amercian to fly an Airplane.Coleman's main goals when she returned to America were to make a living flying and to establish the first African American flight school.  Because of her color and gender, however, she was somewhat limited in her first goal.

Bessie Coleman was born on January 26, 1892, in a one-room, dirt-floored cabin in Atlanta, Texas, to George and Susan Coleman, the illiterate (unable to read and write) children of slaves.
